Hi, Karolina! Would you say the IBCP program prepared you well for your studies at HIM?
Let me tell you, the IBCP program was like a crash course in everything I needed to succeed in my studies at HIM and beyond.
Learning about subjects like communication, leadership, entrepreneurship, service theories, and international business was incredibly valuable in the hospitality industry, where communication and interpersonal skills are critical.
But what really made the IBCP program stand out for me was the diverse mix of nationalities in my class. I mean, it was like a mini United Nations in there! It made me appreciate the different perspectives people can bring to the table, which was an excellent foundation for my studies at HIM, where I encountered people from all over the globe, each with their unique story.
How have you changed during the years studying at HIM – on a personal, and a professional level?
Wow, looking back on my journey with HIM, I’d say it was quite a transformative one!
When I first arrived as a freshman, I was a bit unsure of what to expect, but I promised myself that I would make the most of my time there.
Over the years, I’ve taken on various roles and responsibilities both academically and professionally, and it’s taught me to take initiative and approach challenges with a positive mindset, always looking for opportunities to learn and grow.
But the most significant change has been on a personal level. Being away from home and surrounded by new people in a foreign country was challenging, but it was also exciting. I made friendships for life, and the connections I made there have shaped who I am today.
What role did the teachers play in your experience of studying at HIM?
Whenever I’ve had doubts or fall downs, they were there to help me get back on track and see the bigger picture. My teachers equipped me with practical advice on how to succeed in the job market and achieve my career goals. I don’t think I could have made it this far without them.
If there’s one thing I want other students to take away from my experience, it’s this: seek out the support and guidance of your teachers and mentors. They have the wisdom and expertise to help you achieve anything you set your mind to, and with their help, anything is possible!
What word could sum up your time at HIM that captures the essence of your experience?
TRANSFORMATIVE.
What were the networking opportunities like in HIM?
Networking opportunities at HIM were incredible. Through internships, networking events, competitions, and forums, I was able to connect with inspiring professionals who have helped guide me in my career path.
I even had the chance to meet a successful entrepreneur who gave me the push I needed to pursue my own entrepreneurial aspirations.
How do you see the role of hospitality in today’s world?
Let’s face it – we all want to feel special, right? That’s where hospitality comes in! Whether we’re staying in a hotel, dining at a restaurant, or attending an event, we want to feel like we’re the most important person in the room. And that’s exactly what the hospitality industry is all about – creating memorable experiences that last a lifetime.
At HIM, they get it. They know that to succeed in this industry, you need more than just book smarts. That’s why they offer courses that focus on practical skills, industry knowledge, and leadership qualities to prepare students to excel in this field.
What would you say is the most important thing you’ve learned at HIM?
It’s not just about what you learn in the classroom – it’s about the whole experience. Living with other students means that hospitality is present in every aspect of your life. You’ll be constantly surrounded by people from different cultures, all of whom bring something unique to the table.
You’ll learn how to provide excellent customer service, work effectively as part of a team, and communicate with others in a way that creates positive experiences. These skills are essential in the hospitality industry, and they’re just as important in life too.
So if you’re considering a career in hospitality, HIM is the place to be. They’ll equip you with the skills you need to make a meaningful contribution to this exciting industry and beyond. And who knows – you might just make some unforgettable memories along the way!
To wrap it up, what advice would you give to the younger self?
I would say her to build your network, get out of your comfort zone, always be ready for a challenge, never stop pursuing your dreams, and have fun along the way!
