Welcoming Dr. Becky Youngman to the team

Welcoming Dr. Becky Youngman to the team 1Dr. Becky Youngman is an accomplished educator with over four decades of experience championing student success. Her career began in the classroom, where she dedicated 21 years to teaching language acquisition in the Middle Years and Diploma Programmes at one of the first International Baccalaureate (IB) schools in Palm Beach County, Florida. During this time, she also contributed to the IB’s global mission by serving in a variety of IBEN roles including workshop leader, examiner, senior moderator, and curriculum developer.

Her passion for fostering students’ post secondary readiness and success propelled her to a leadership position as Curriculum Manager for accelerated academics and college and career readiness programs within one of the largest school districts in the United States. Driven by a strong belief in the importance of educational opportunity for all, she spearheaded the expansion and improvement of these programs, enhancing teacher training and significantly increasing access to advanced coursework for previously underserved students.

Dr. Youngman then brought her expertise to the IB Global Centre in The Hague as a Curriculum Manager for the Career-related Programme (CP). In this role, she was responsible for developing the 2025 iterations of the Personal and Professional Skills (PPS) and Reflective Project (RP) core components, as well as their supporting resources. She incorporated student voice and teacher input throughout the development process, and has helped to promote effective implementation of the CP through presentations at global conferences and by collaborating with and supporting colleagues, school leaders, and teachers worldwide.

Most recently, Dr. Youngman has co-authored a student handbook for the Reflective Project to be published later this year. She is a passionate advocate for the CP, believing it provides a rigorous and engaging pathway that empowers students to shape their own futures. She is convinced that the strength of the CP lies in its holistic nature – enabling educators to truly meet students where they are and help them achieve their full potential.
